When is the clinic open?
The clinic is open 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursdays. During Ramadan, the clinic is open from 6 PM to 7 PM on Thursdays. We are currently providing in-person visits.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We are currently accepting walk-ins and online appointments.
What if I have an emergency?
If you are an emergency case requiring immediate attention, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
What can I expect at an appointment?
The staff will greet you and seat you in the waiting room. We will strive to minimize your waiting time. If applicable, for telehealth visits, you will receive a text message to join a video call with your physician at the time of your appointment. Please be sure to allow camera and microphone access.
What happens if I am a new patient?
You may have referred yourself or have been referred by another specialist. We will discuss your problem and ask about your medical history. An examination will then follow. We may request examinations and tests to assist and support our diagnosis.
What if I have a previous doctor?
If you have previous examinations and tests related to your current condition, please bring those along to the consultation. Also bring any copies of letters from other doctors or recent medication. It will help us to help you.
How do referred services work?
Dental care, medication assistance, mammograms, PAP smears, eye exams, specialty care, laboratory and imaging services are provided through referrals within the community. Several resources are free, while others are low cost. Contact information is provided at the time of your visit.
What referred dental services are available?
Routine exams, assessments, cavity fillings, teeth cleanings, and tooth extractions.
How does medication assistance work?
The clinic can connect you to patient assistance programs run by pharmaceutical companies, nonprofit groups, and government programs to provide free and low-cost medications to people who cannot afford to buy their medicine.
Do you examine children at your clinic?
While most of our patients are adults, Dr. Farooq Ahmed and Dr. Farah Chaus regularly provide pediatric care.
What happens if I need a prescription?
We may prescribe prescription treatment for your condition. Please let us know in case you have any allergy or other medical condition. Prescriptions may be printed and handed to you or sent by electronic prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.
What resources are available if I cannot afford medications?
Several pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies provide low-cost medication and assistance depending on your income level. Examples of such services are Merck, Prescription Hope, GoodRx, and Walmart.
What if I have previous medications?
If you have already been taking drugs prescribed by another doctor, please bring them with you for clarification or possible drug interactions and correlations with the new condition.
What about insurance and billing?
Mercy To Mankind Clinic provides primary medical care without compensation to those who do not receive health insurance benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance and cannot otherwise afford access to health care services on their own. If you have insurance, you do not qualify to be a patient at our clinic. Please see eligibility criteria for more information.
Do you have parking facilities?
Yes, free parking is available in front and around the clinic.
Do you have wheelchair access?
Hayat Clinic has partnered with us to provide services for patients requiring wheelchair access. They are located on 6350 N Maplewood Ave, Chicago, IL 60659. Please contact (773) 465-4749.
